In the spring of my junior year of college, I worked with 3 other people to build a gumball for my IPD 5010 class. The components of the machine were mostly machined but the slide and dome were 3D printed. To get this machine to work, you put a coin in the coin slot, twist the knob and a gumball will drop down the slide. For this project, I learned how to do threading on the CNC Lathe so the top of the rocket unthreads and you can refill the gumballs. I also encountered a lot of difficulty fixturing the large cylinders we needed to build the base of our machine.
