Senior Design
All Mechanical Engineering seniors at the University of Pennsylvania must complete a senior design project. My group chose to build Flash, the world's first fully automated film development machine. Flash takes in a film canister, unspools it, and dunks the film in a variety of heated chemical baths. Once the film is developed, Flash returns it to the user in under 30 minutes.
This project won the William K. Gemmill Memorial Prize for outstanding creativity. I focused on how the film moved inside of the machine as well as the integration of physical and electrical components. This project was incredibly complex and rewarding, a fitting way to culminate my engineering education.
